Since being founded in 2011, Friends of Sesqui has worked closely with park rangers to provide a variety of improvements. Some of its more notable projects include:

• Attained funding for an Outdoor Education Classroom from the Lipscomb Family Foundation

• Attained REI grants to restore the historic spillway at the park and build an ADA-approved sidewalk and viewing path to this popular destination

• Planted native shrubs, trees and wildflowers along the spillway with the help of a Columbia Green grant

• Provided funding for new nature trail signage and wayside signs thoughout the park

• Planted 26 hardwood trees at the Welcome Center and 12 dogwood trees utilizing a grant from Columbia Green

• Relocated and completed landscaping for the Blue Star marker through the aid of Columbia Garden Club

• Erected kiosks at both the dog park and the main visitor area with some funding from the Spring Valley Rotary Club

• Planted shade and dogwood trees through grants from Columbia Green and the Spring Valley Rotary Club

• Planted 65 Longleaf pine trees near the park office through a gift from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School

• Created an entrance garden off Two Notch Road utilizing funding from Columbia Green and Kroger Grocery Store

• Planted 24 azalea bushes at the park's main entrance

• Installed a drinking fountain in the main shelter area

• Installed an air conditioner at the entrance pay station for employees
